7  Information Unifers

We often look for that which separates – distinguishing features, unique traits, orphan genes, idiosyncratic behavior, quirky personality, one-of-a-kind, one-in-a-million, the covert, the hidden the special, the individual, the seen, the heard.

In STEM we do the same, dis

7.1 Using dimensions, instead of disciplines, to define solution pathways

  • Seemingly disparate disciplines are just like how David Hand defined Statistics. A tool used to understand the world around us.

  • Each discipline is defined by an interest in some a set of dimensions.

    • Chemistry:
      • XYZ sub-field
    • Physics:
      • XYZ sub-field
    • Biology:
      • XYZ sub-field
    • Mathematics:
      • XYZ sub-field
  • They borrow from each other out of necessity at an primary level or more n developing interesting cross-talk sub-disciplines

  • Consider the question you are interested in answering and ty possible dimensions that you may use n addressing that it instead of labelled & named disciplined ehich are artificial constructs
